2-Day Encaustic Painting Class

Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17 & 18 from 10:00-4:00

Encaustic painting is the oldest painting medium in the world! You will begin with the basics of this ancient technique of painting with pigmented beeswax, including tools and safety, making the encaustic medium and paints, and fusing layers. You will explore the many ways to create imagery and texture by carving, incising, scraping, branding, collaging, transferring and using gold leaf. There will be demonstrations, discussion of historical and contemporary work, lots of work time and exploration, and plenty of time to learn from each other's results.
All levels welcome.

Learn the history of basket weaving, the different styles, and explore some of the many uses. Students can expect to complete two baskets.

1-Day Intermediate Basket Workshop-Focus on Surface Embellishment/Handle Adornment

Thursday, Sept. 9 from 10:30-3:00 p.m.

$35 - all materials provided
Students will use dyed reed, fibers, and/or interesting weaving techniques to add excitement to a finished project. We will practice on an Oak 'D' handle (provided). Students may also bring in their own basket for design suggestions.
